Shops shut for 11hrs protesting CDA drive in port city

Owners kept their shops closed on Jamalkhan Road for around 11 hours yesterday, protesting a mobile court drive by Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) the day before.

On Tuesday, the court led by Executive Magistrate Khin Wan Nu fined five buildings and 15 businesses on various charges, including construction of such structures defying building code.

It also demolished parts of an under construction building.
