Transport workers block road in Rajshahi city in protest

Transport labourers barricaded the Rajshahi-Dhaka highway at two different spots in Rajshahi city yesterday protesting "assaults".

They blocked the highway at Talaimari area for half-hour from 2:00pm by putting trucks across the road after an unidentified plainclothes police allegedly beat up a truck driver. 
The labourers alleged that the policeman beat up the driver as he mistakenly hit a chair of a roadside tea-stall while parking.

Later the barricade was withdrawn following intervention of their leaders. 
In another incident at Bhadra bus stand, the fruit vendors damaged the front-glass of a passenger bus following a scuffle over the fruit vendors' sitting on the road.

Protesting the incident, drivers blocked the road with buses around 12:00pm.
The barricade was withdrawn later.
