136 gold bars seized at Ctg airport

Custom Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized 136 gold bars worth around Tk 6.80cr at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong yesterday.

Around 16kg gold was found in a drive, under a seat of an US-Bangla aircraft that arrived from Oman at 6:45am yesterday, said a CIID official.

Mohammad Jahed, 40, a passenger on the flight, was detained. He was found involved in the smuggling in primary investigation, CIID added. 

A case was filed with Patenga Police Station and Jahed was handed over to the police.
