11 human traffickers sued in Kalapara, 2 arrested
Police arrested two alleged human traffickers from Nayakata village in Kalapara upazila of the district yesterday.
The arrestees are Paran Sharif, 32, and Habibur Rahman, 35, of the village. They are among the 11 accused in a case for human trafficking filed with Kalapara Police Station by a victim's father on Thursday.
The other accused are Nabir Hossain, Sobhan Sharif, Rahmat Ullah, Md Sabuj, Md Hasan, Rokeya, Salma Begum and Jabiul Haque. They all are from the same village.
According to the case statement, the accused lured Md Anisur Rahman, son of Anwar Hossain, saying that they would get him a job at a hotel in Dubai in February this year and took Tk 2.42 lakh from him. Later, the traffickers handed him over to other traffickers who sent him to Nepal.
On May 12, Bazlur Rahman, another youth of same area, was somehow able to flee from the traffickers.
Bazlur told Anwar that a gang of traffickers took his son Anisur to Nepal where he has to work without pay. The gang also tortured Anisur when he protested, Anwar said quoting Bazlur.
Knowing son's awful condition, Anwar asked Habib and Paran to return the money and bring back his son as they failed to send him to Dubai. Since then, Habib and Paran have been threatening him, Anwar claimed.
Contacted, Azizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Kalapara Police Station, said law enforcers are trying to arrest the rest nine accused who are allegedly involved in human trafficking.
