200 cannabis plants destroyed

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) destroyed around 200 cannabis plants at a field in the remote char area of the Jamuna River in Sirajganj district on Tuesday night. They also arrested two people on charge of cultivating the plants on one acre of land. The arrestees are Abdus Salam, 38, and Moyan Uddin, 33, of the area, said Additional Superintendent of Police Mohiuddin Faruki, commander of Tangail Rab camp. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-12 raided the area and found the cannabis plants on the land. They later destroyed the plants and arrested the two from the spot.
