3 BNP men held for stabbing contractor

Three BNP leaders, including the secretary of Sirajganj district unit of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, were held early yesterday on charge of attacking a contractor at the district headquarters on Saturday night.

The detainees are Mirza Abdul Jabbar Babu, 40, secretary of Sirajganj district unit of Jubo Dal; Minhaz Uddin alias Munna, 38, sports affair secretary of district unit of BNP, and Joynal Abedin Tara, activist of the unit and councillor of Sirajganj municipality.

Md Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station, said the arrestees along with their accomplices entered the house of Md Musa Sheikh, a leading construction contractor at SS Road in the town, and stabbed him at around 9:00pm.

The victim filed a case with Sirajganj Sadar Police Station the same night, accusing five people, including the arrestees, the OC said.
