9 Feni Jubo League men remanded

A Feni court yesterday placed nine out of 26 Jubo League leaders and activists on one day's remand in an arms case.

They are Saleh Ahmed alias Mintu member, president of Jubo League Fulgazi upazila unit, Mohammad Enamul Karim alias Rajib, organising secretary of the unit, Abul Kashem alias Bachchu, president of Darbarpur unit of Jubo League, Md Farid, president of Ward No 7 unit of Jubo League under Munshirhat union of Fulgazi upazila and activists Ashraful Islam alias Masum, Abu Bakkar Siddik alias Shuvo, Abu Yousuf alias Dollar, Mainuddin and Sarowar Hossain.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Badiul Alam issued the order after hearing on the remand petition filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), seeking five days' remand for the accused.

On the night of June 6, Rab personnel intercepted the vehicles carrying the Jubo League men in Lalpur area under Feni municipality while they were returning to Feni town from a meeting in Sonagazi.

Members of the elite force searched the vehicles and found five shotguns, five revolvers and 26 billhooks.

The Rab men arrested the Jubo League leaders and activists, seized the arms and handed them to Feni Sadar Model Police Station.

They also filed a case under the Arms Act against the arrestees.
