A court yesterday rejected the bail prayer of all the four accused in the case for killing Maklukur Rahman Murad, a doctor of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital in 2013.

Judge Rajib Kumar Roy of Galachipa Upazila Judicial Magistrate's Court rejected the prayer after hearing both sides around 2:30pm.

The court fixed October 19 for next hearing on the bail prayer, said Mohammad Selim, investigation officer (IO) of the case.

On October 11, police arrested Monjur Quader, an official of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital in Dhaka, his driver Moneza Akhter, Doctor Mezbah Uddin, of the same hospital, and Golam Mostafa Nantu, owner of the building where the Galachipa Sub-centre is housed, raiding different areas in the capital.

The following day, police placed the arrestees before the Galachipa Upazila Judicial Magistrate's Court, seeking a five-day remand. The court also rejected the remand prayer yesterday.

Dr Murad along with a 56-member medical team went to visit a sub-centre in Golachipa upazila and went missing on December 6, 2013.

On December 8, his body was found floating in a pond adjacent to the centre.

On January 21, 2014, Dr Murad's maternal uncle Asgor Ali Khan filed a murder case with Galachipa Police Station.
