Criminal held with gun, bullets

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an alleged criminal with a shotgun and 16 bullets in Housing Estate area of the district town on Sunday night. The arrestee is Mostafizur Rahman alias Madhu, 32, son of Mizanur Rahman Bhuyian.  Madhu is a close aide and bodyguard of Mominur Rahman, suspended former general secretary of Kushtia town unit of Awami League. Madhu was involved in a clash between the activists of district unit of Jubo League and Swechchhasebak League at Mazampur gate in the town on August 15, said Rab sources. A local Jubo League activist was killed and 30 others were injured during the incident.
