Fake doctor jailed

A mobile court sentenced a fake doctor to one year's imprisonment at Nishchinta Bazar in Kalai upazila of the district on Monday. The convict is Golam Mostafa, 44, of Uttar Pakuria village in the upazila. The court also fined him Tk 50,000. In default, he is to suffer another three months in jail. Mostafa ran a drugstore named 'Sultana Pharmacy' in the bazar area and had been treating patients using fake identity of a doctor. He also often conducted surgical operations, endangering patients. On secret information, a team of Rab-5 raided the area and arrested Mostafa. Later, Mostafa was produced before the court, led by Executive Magistrate Md Shahidul Haque, which punished him.
