Housewife rescued 10 days into abduction, one held

Police rescued a housewife from Kaharol upazila in Dinajpur district early yesterday, 10 days after her abduction.

They also arrested one Bashiruddin, 23, son of Jalaluddin of Pithalitala Mahollah in Shibganj upazila town of Chapainawabganj, for his alleged involvement in the abduction.

On April 25, Bashiruddin allegedly abducted the 22-year-old woman when she was going to Shibganj Bazar, said Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector of Shibganj Police Station.  

He then took her to a house in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur, the SI said, adding that the victim's mother later filed a case with the police station against Bashiruddin.

On secret information, a police team raided the house early yesterday and rescued the housewife. They also arrested Bashiruddin from the spot, said Shahidul, investigation officer of the case.

Meanwhile, a mobile court sentenced a youth to one year's imprisonment for stalking a female schoolteacher in Chapainawabganj town the same day. 

The convict is Kawsar Ali, 27, son of Israfil Haque of Nayagola in the town.
