Land dispute leaves one dead in Shibganj

A man was killed and another injured by their rivals over a land dispute at Dobhagi village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Rozbul Haque, 28, son of Mofazzal Haque of the village.

Moinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station, said there had been a dispute over a land between Rozbul and his neighbour Manirul Haque.

When    Rozbul and his elder brother Esharul Haque, 30, were returning home from Tartipur Haat after selling cattle on Tuesday night, Manirul and his men attacked the duo with sharp weapons at Daktarpara area at around 8:30pm, leaving them critically injured.

Locals rushed the two siblings to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, from where the doctors sent them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

Rozbul died at the hospital at around 1:00am yesterday. Esharul is under treatment at the hospital.

Police arrested 12 people, including Manirul, in connection with the incident.
