Madrasa student among three murdered
A man belonging to an ethnic minority group was murdered by his younger brother in Hakimpur upazila of the district early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nipen Orao, 38, son late Mongla Orao, of Khattra Uchna village in the upazila.
Police said Nipen Orao and his younger brother Sanjit Orao locked in altercation at their house as Nipen returned home drunk at around 1:00am. At one stage Sanjit stabbed Nipen, leaving him critically injured.
He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Ekramul Kabir, inspector (investigation) of Hakimpur Police Station, said they recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Away in Rangpur, a madrasa student was found dead in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sumon Mia, 15, son Saidur Rahman of Khastri-Pashchimpara, and a Class X student of Patgram Madrasa in the upazila.
Pirganj police, quoting the deceased's family members, said some unidentified criminals called him out of his house late at night. He had been missing since then. Family members found his body under a tree near his house in the morning.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Pirganj Upazila Police Station, told journalists that police found some bruises on the body.
In Naogaon, A night guard of a school was beaten to death in Raninagar upazila of the district on Friday night by some unidentified criminals.
The deceased was identified as Mir Hossain, 45, son of late Mobarak Ali, of Madya Rajapur village and night guard of Trimohani High School in the upazila.
Police, quoting family members, said some unidentified criminals beat him up at his school on Thursday night. Later locals of the area rescued him and took him to Raninagar Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries at around 8:00pm on Friday.
