Nine gamblers arrested

Detectives arrested nine gamblers from Ulia village in Islampur upazila on Wednesday.

The arrestees are Anwar, 32, Jahurul Mia, 35, and Sona Mia, 55, of the village; Aminur Rashid, 32, Nantu Mia, 40, Hamidur Rahman, 45, and Jahurul, 38, of Dakkhin Chinaduli village; Mujibur, 46, and Kitab Ali, 55, of Boraitar village in the upazila.

On secret information, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) Police raided the village around 3:45am and detained them while they were gambling, said Nazrul Islam, sub-inspector of DB police in Jamalpur.
