Octogenarian murdered

Police recovered the body of an unidentified elderly man, aged about 80, from Dinajpur branch canal of Teesta Irrigation Project at Horish Chandrapath village in Jaldhaka upazila of the district yesterday. Locals found the body floating in the water in the morning and informed the police. The law enforcers rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Nilphamari 100-bed Hospital morgue for autopsy. Criminals might have strangled the victim as injury marks were found on the throat, said Delwar Hasan Inam, officer-in-charge of Jaldhaka Police Station.
