A Sylhet court yesterday granted bail to photojournalist Idris Ali in blogger Ananta Bijoy Das murder case.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha accepted the bail petition and granted bail, said Idris's lawyer Abdul Gaffar.

The 30-year-old Idris Ali is a photojournalist of a local daily, the Sobuj Sylhet. He was arrested on June 7 in connection with the blogger Ananta murder case.

Ananta was hacked to death in Sylhet town on May 12.

The next day, Ananta's brother Ratshawar Das filed the case with Sylhet Biman Bandar Police Station, accusing four unknown assailants.

Ananta was an activist of Gonojagoron Mancha, a forum demanding a ban on Islamist parties and maximum penalty for convicted war criminals.
