School committee chief accused of corruption

Students and guardians yesterday demonstrated demanding removal of the president of Kisamat Chandrapur Government Primary School managing committee in Aditmari upazila of the district, bringing corruption charge against him.

The teachers and students alleged that president of the committee Delwar Hossain Basuniya misappropriated fund for sports accessories, school's tree plantation project and even stipend money but he always blamed the headmaster and other teachers for the embezzlement.

Headmaster Mahfuzar Rahman played a great role to improve the educational atmosphere in the last one year but the president continued making 'conspiracy' against him, they said.

The quality of education will certainly fall if the president is not removed immediately, they added.

The headmaster said he has been facing setback on school development work due to lack of cooperation of the president.

On the other hand, the president said he is trying to do something good for the school but the headmaster does not obey him.

District Primary Education Officer Nabez Uddin said investigation against the school committee president is going on and they will take necessary steps in this regard very soon.
