Sitakunda Jamaat ameer held

Police arrested Shafiqul Maola, ameer of Sitakunda upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami, from Banshbaria area in the upazila of the district yesterday afternoon.

On information, police intercepted a passenger bus in the area and arrested Shafiqul, 62, around 2:00pm, said Saiful Islam, assistant superintendent of police.

Shafiqul was returning to the upazila from Chittagong city at that time, said the ASP.

Shafiqul was accused in at least 10 cases, including those for vandalism and arson, he said.
