Village doctor shot in Dinajpur

A village doctor was shot by an unknown gang at Ranirbandar in Chirirbandar upazila of the district on Monday night.

The victim is Birendranath Roy, 68, son of Jyotindranath Roy of Ranipur village in the upazila.

Police quoted locals as saying that a gang of criminals opened fire on Birendranath in Ichhamati College area near Ranirbazar while he was returning home from the bazaar at around11:00pm.

The attackers fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

Locals took Birendranath to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. He was later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Victim's son Kamal Roy filed a case with Chirirbandar Police Station yesterday.
