Youth held with arms, ammo

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel detained a young man and seized firearms and bullets from his possession from Ulurchar village in Sadar (south) upazila early yesterday.

The arrestee, Mohammad Faruk, 34, son of Khalilur Rahman, is a resident of the village.

Major Khurshid Alam, commanding officer (CO) of Rab-11, said law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided the village around 2:00am and arrested Faruk from his house.

They recovered a foreign-made pistol, one magazine, a shotgun and six bullets from his house.

Faruk in an accused in a drug peddling case filed with Sadar (South) Police Station, the CO added.
