Baishakhi concert brings Bangladeshi stars to Oklahoma
For the first time, a Baishakhi Mela concert is set to take place in the US state of Oklahoma, bringing together the Bangladeshi diaspora to celebrate the Bengali New Year in vibrant style.
Renowned singer Samina Chowdhury and actor Zayed Khan are among the headline performers for the event, scheduled for May 9. The concert is being organised by the Desi Youth Association of Oklahoma.
They will be joined by artistes Parvez Sazzad and Bindu Kona, promising an engaging evening of music and entertainment.
Speaking about the event, Zayed Khan expressed his enthusiasm, noting that celebrating Bangladesh’s culture and heritage on foreign soil is a matter of pride. He also hoped the programme would be a memorable experience for attendees.
“The love of expatriate Bangladeshis has always inspired me,” he said. “I am delighted to be part of a Baishakhi Mela in Oklahoma for the first time, and I look forward to spending a wonderful time with everyone.”
Organisers informed that the concert will feature a lively mix of musical performances, entertainment, and cultural showcases, creating a festive atmosphere for the community.
