Dhaka hosts intimate launch of ‘Coffee o Kobita’ with poetry and music
An evening of coffee, verse and music set the tone at the launch of “Coffee O Kobita” at Cafelytics, creating a warm cultural ambience around the newly published anthology.
Edited and compiled by Zobaidul Islam and released by Oitijjhya, the book brings together a diverse collection of poems centred on the emotional and symbolic world of coffee.
The event drew poets, literature enthusiasts, cultural figures and invited guests, who gathered to celebrate what organisers described as more than just a poetry collection. According to them, the book captures a spectrum of feelings—memory, love, longing, expectation and silence—woven through the shared ritual of coffee.
In the foreword, Zobaidul Islam reflects on how thoughts, memories and dreams rise within people much like steam from a cup of coffee, with poetry becoming a companion to that inner world. The anthology, he notes, was born from this very idea, bringing together varied poetic expressions around a single motif.
Speakers at the event highlighted that such a programme goes beyond a formal book launch, offering a space for dialogue, creativity and cultural exchange. Guests also praised the thematic diversity and aesthetic presentation of the collection.
Published in Falgun 1432 (February 2026), “Coffee O Kobita” features works by both established and emerging poets, offering readers a distinct literary experience within contemporary Bangla poetry.
The evening at Cafelytics underscored a simple yet resonant idea—coffee here is not merely a beverage, but a language of thought, emotion and artistic expression.
