Tanvir Tareq reunites with Swapan Ahmed for ‘The Orange’
Tanvir Tareq is composing the music for a new film by director Swapan Ahmed, reuniting the pair after nearly ten years. They last worked together on "Porobashinee”, for which Tanvir Tareq composed the music, including the title track.
Swapan Ahmed later moved to France. He has now begun work on a new film. The film is called "The Orange", with the Bengali title "Pother Bondhu". Most of its scenes will be shot at various locations across France. The recording of the film's only song, "Tomar Ki Mone Ache”, has recently been completed. It was recorded at Tanvir Tareq’s Kolahol studio in the United States.
Speaking about the film's background score and music, Tanvir Tareq said, "Swapan Bhai always likes to do experimental work in Bangladeshi cinema. His last film was Bangladesh's first sci-fi movie. We discussed the story of this film for a long time. I am in the United States, and Swapan Ahmed is in France. That is how the conversations went. This is the story of an expatriate father who goes missing after coming to France, and his daughter's search for him many years later. It describes scenes within an entire journey. The script has already received nominations for several festivals. It has won praise at various international film clubs. This is my 14th film in my career. It is going to be one of my most notable works. I hope everyone will like it."
Director Swapan Ahmed said, "We have been trying to tell this story for a long time. It will connect wonderfully with Bangladeshi audiences and the diaspora. Tanvir Bhai and I have been discussing this project for a long time. Finally, the work has begun. Most of the film's cast and crew are French. We are planning for two actors from Bangladesh to join as well. The film will be released in theatres in 2027, after going through various festivals."
Bioscope Films will serve as the film's world distributor.
