Veteran folk singer Kangalini Sufia shared a heartfelt moment with legendary artiste Runa Laila, singing to her and embracing her during rehearsals for the TMSS Channel-i Music Awards 2025 in Bogura.

The city has turned into a hub of musical celebration ahead of the awards, with prominent artistes and showbiz personalities gathering at the Momo Inn venue. From Monday evening, the main stage was abuzz with rehearsals, as performers prepared for the grand event in an open field setting featuring a large-scale stage.

The presence of leading figures from both the entertainment industry and political sphere has added to the scale of the programme, which organisers have described as an “unprecedented” gathering of stars.

Runa Laila, one of the subcontinent’s most celebrated singers, was seen attending rehearsals and interacting with fellow artistes ahead of the main ceremony scheduled for the following day. During a break, Kangalini Sufia approached her and performed her popular folk song “Matir Gache Lau Dhoirache”.

After the performance, Runa Laila praised the veteran folk artiste. Responding to questions from journalists, she said, “I have been listening to her songs for many years. I pray that she stays well.”

Kangalini Sufia, who arrived in Bogura earlier in the day with her daughter and granddaughter, is set to receive a special honour at this year’s awards.

Also present at the venue were key organisers, including Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Impress Telefilm Ltd and Channel i.

With the festive atmosphere already in full swing at the venue, anticipation is building for the main event, where leading figures from the country’s music industry will come together on one stage.
