Actor Ziaul Faruq Apurbo is returning to storytelling with the upcoming drama “Ochena Ami”, directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu. Besides developing the story, Apurbo  has also written the screenplay for the project.

The romantic drama stars Apurbo  opposite Naznin Nahar Niha and is scheduled to premiere on the Capital Drama YouTube channel on the second day of Eid-ul-Azha.

Sharing the first-look poster on social media, Apurbo hinted at the drama’s emotional and philosophical themes. “Are all faces truly familiar? Or does an unknown self hide behind every familiar person?” he wrote, describing the project as a story exploring love and identity.

Director Angshu said the drama combines romance with deeper reflections on life, loss and rediscovery.

“It is a romantic story, but beyond that it also explores human realisations and the emotional journey of losing and finding loved ones again,” he said. “When Apurbo  first shared the story with me, I instantly connected with it and began visualising the project that same day.”

According to the director, “Ochena Ami” marks only the second time Apurbo has written a screenplay. More than a decade ago, the actor scripted his only self-directed telefilm, on which Angshu had worked during post-production.

Angshu praised Apurbo ’s storytelling abilities, saying his stories often carry both emotional depth and a cinematic feel.

“Alongside acting, Apurbo  is very talented as a storyteller. He has beautifully arranged the sequences in line with the narrative. His stories always carry a message and a cinematic vibe, and audiences will find that in ‘Ochena Ami’ as well,” the director added.

Apurbo  has previously contributed stories for several television dramas, including “Shopner Nil Pori”, “Ek Tukro Nil”, “Bhalobashar Shuru” and “Firey Asha”.

Meanwhile, Angshu also confirmed that work is underway on the screenplay for the web series “Golam Mamun 2”, which will again feature Apurbo. The director said preparations are progressing steadily and shooting is expected to begin later this year.
