I may be living abroad, but I am continuing to work: Nova

Nova Firoze began her journey in showbiz after becoming the champion of “You Got the Look”. She subsequently started modelling before making her acting debut in Animesh Aich-directed “Prem O Ghamer Golpo”.

She went on to act in two prominent television series, “Dolls House” and “Mahanagar”, and appeared in numerous other dramas. She also acted in the film “Mridha vs Mridha”.

Nova has now settled in the United States. Speaking about her life there, she said she is doing well with the prayers and love of her well-wishers.

“I am in America now. I am doing well with everyone's prayers and love. When I was in Bangladesh, I used to hear the words ‘lights, camera, action’ almost every day. I miss those words terribly. I really miss them,” Nova said.

She also misses familiar places and people from the acting industry.

“I miss the familiar places and the people from the acting world very much. We were all like a family. I will never be able to forget them,” she said.

Although she is now based in the US, Nova said she continues to work in modelling, with some of her work being aired on local television channels. She is also working behind the camera and has been involved in stage presenting.

“I am still modelling even though I live in America. Some of my work is being aired on television channels here. I am also working behind the camera. Besides that, I am presenting on stage. I have hosted an event in California and have done so in several other places. It feels good to come outside the country and continue presenting, and I am receiving people's love through this work,” she said.

Nova has also established a production house named Toaster Production. She said she wants to create quality work through the company and has already started organising programmes under its banner.

Alongside her production work, Nova is also involved in a restaurant business with Hillol and Naushin.

Despite living away from Bangladesh, Nova said she remains connected to cultural programmes. She finds it particularly touching when Bangladeshis she meets in America recognise her from her acting career.

“The interesting thing is that whenever I meet Bangladeshis in America, they ask me about my acting. Some even mention the names of my dramas. I feel very good then. It brings me a lot of joy,” she said.

Recalling her first drama, “Prem O Ghamer Golpo”, Nova said the Animesh Aich-directed production received widespread appreciation and remains one of her favourites.

“It was my first drama. The director was Animesh Aich. The drama received a lot of appreciation. People of all ages liked it. It is one of my favourite dramas, and I still receive praise for it. It was a very good piece of work,” she said.

Nova also recalled that the dialogues in her first drama were in the Sirajganj dialect, which initially made her wonder whether she would be able to pull off the role.

“At first, I wondered whether I would be able to do it. But after I performed, everyone appreciated it,” she said.

Speaking about her other television work, Nova said “Mahanagar” was a daily serial that aired on Bangla Vision, while she also received audience appreciation for her performance in “Dolls House”. She has appeared in numerous other dramas as well.

Nova also acted in the film “Mridha vs Mridha” while she was living in Bangladesh. Describing the film, she said, “‘Mridha vs Mridha’ is a wonderful film. It has a very good story, and audiences appreciated it greatly.”

Despite living abroad, Nova said she intends to continue working and hopes to create more projects through her own production house.

“I may be living outside the country, but I am continuing to work here as well. I want to do good work here through my own production,” she said.
