Priyanka to take legal action against production house over Rahul’s death
The sudden death of popular actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has cast a shadow over the Tollywood industry. However, beyond the grief, serious questions are now being raised about on-set safety and negligence by the production house.
The tragic incident took place during the shooting of the serial “Bhole Baba Par Karega”, produced by Leena Gangopadhyay’s company Magic Moments, at Talsari in Odisha. Rahul’s wife and actress Priyanka Sarkar is now preparing to take legal action.
According to reports, Priyanka Sarkar is planning to file an FIR against Magic Moments, demanding a proper investigation into Rahul’s death. A high-level meeting was held at the residence of Prosenjit Chatterjee, the working president of the Artists’ Forum. Priyanka and other senior members attended the meeting.
There are allegations that the production house gave inconsistent statements from the beginning. It is also claimed that Leena Gangopadhyay is trying to shift the entire blame for the drone shot accident onto Rahul.
The Talsari Marine Police have added a new dimension to the case. Police said that no prior permission was taken for shooting on the beach. The local police station was also not informed.
Questions are now being raised about why Rahul was sent into rough sea waters without lifeguards or proper safety arrangements.
The preliminary post-mortem report was released on Monday (March 30). It confirmed that Rahul died due to drowning.
The report stated that a large amount of sand and salt water entered his lungs, causing them to swell. Sand was also found in his food pipe and airway. These findings have strengthened the family’s allegations of negligence.
Media reports from Kolkata suggest that the Artists’ Forum will soon send a show-cause notice to Magic Moments. If the response is not satisfactory, the production house may be blacklisted.
This means that members of the forum may refuse to work with the company in the future. It is still unclear whether the investigation will be handled by West Bengal Police or Odisha Police.
The Tollywood industry is now waiting for the next statement from the Artists’ Forum. The debate over artistes’ safety is growing stronger and is unlikely to end soon.
