Television actor Alauddin Lal, fondly known as Lal Nana by his fellow artistes, passed away yesterday at a hospital in Uttara around 6 PM. He was 82 years old at the time of his death.

The Bangladeshi film “Suraiya”, directed by Robiul Alam Robi and based on the novel of the same name by Shibabrata Barman, has been chosen for the Tasveer Film Festival and Market in Seattle, USA. 

SM Aslam Talukder Manna, popularly known by his stage name, Manna, was once a massive star in Dhaka’s film industry, synonymous with hit after hit. He earned legions of fans across Bangladesh with a career that spanned decades. Tragically, in 2008, he passed away after a heart attack.

Kapadia’s film, initially viewed as the favourite following its critical success and Grand Jury Prize win at Cannes, lost out to Rao’s film in the Oscar race selection.
