Channel i Music Awards to hold 20th edition in Bogura
The 20th edition of the “TMSS–Channel i Music Awards 2025” will be held on April 7 in Bogura, organisers announced at a press conference in Dhaka.
This year’s ceremony will take place at the five-star resort Momo Inn Hotel & Resort. The event is being organised with sponsorship from Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS).
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the studio of Channel i on Thursday. Organisers revealed that awards will be presented in 19 categories, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Leading and emerging musicians, as well as industry professionals from across the country, are expected to attend the ceremony, which is considered one of South Asia’s largest music award events.
Among those present at the press conference were Impress Telefilm and Channel i managing director Faridur Reza Sagar, Channel i director and head of news Shykh Seraj, TMSS founder and executive director Professor Hosne Ara Begum, musicians Khurshid Alam and Rafiqul Alam, project director Raju Alim, and editor of Ananda Alo Rezanur Rahman, among others.
Faridur Reza Sagar said hosting the event in Bogura holds special significance as the district has produced three prime ministers of Bangladesh, including the current one. He emphasised that cooperation from all stakeholders will be essential to ensure the success of the event and thanked TMSS for its support.
Shykh Seraj noted that Channel i launched the music awards nearly two decades ago to promote healthy musical culture and inspire new artistes to pursue music. He expressed hope that this year’s event would be even more vibrant and exciting than previous editions.
Professor Hosne Ara Begum said TMSS works across multiple sectors but often avoids publicity. She added that the organisation chose to partner with Channel i because of its strong national and international reputation.
Singer Rafiqul Alam said that over the past 20 years, no other broadcaster in South Asia has organised such a large-scale music awards event dedicated solely to music, praising Channel i for setting a unique example.
The awards will recognise songs released in 2024 across CD, DVD and digital platforms. As in previous years, a panel of leading musicians and experts will serve as judges.
Categories for the awards include best modern song singer, composer and lyricist; best band; best emerging engineer; best duet singer; best folk singer; best film song singer, composer and lyricist; best music video director; best Nazrul Sangeet singer; best Rabindra Sangeet singer; best newcomer; best audio company; and several online view-based awards, along with the Lifetime Achievement and special honours.
Additional partners for the event include Ananda Alo as print media partner, Impress Aviation Limited as aviation partner, Channel i Online as online partner, Radio Bhumi 92.8 FM as radio partner, and iScreen as OTT partner.
The Channel i Music Awards were first launched in 2004 with the aim of promoting quality music in Bangladesh. Over the years, the initiative has gained widespread appreciation from artistes and audiences across the country.
