‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler mistaken for bank robber
"Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler was mistaken for a robber while he attempted to withdraw a large sum of his money. According to reports, Coogler was handcuffed briefly in Atlanta on January 7, when he tried to ask for $ 12,000 in cash from his account at a Bank of America.
Reportedly, the confusion arose, when he asked for the money by handing out a note to an employee, while wearing a face mask and sunglasses.
The employee got suspicious of Coogler and concluded that he was trying to stage a robbery. Subsequently, the staff member decided to call the cops on him.
Regarding the incident, Coogler released a statement to Variety where he mentioned that this "should never have happened" and added that Bank of America worked things out with him to his satisfaction and that they have moved on from the incident.
