Five films receive censor clearance ahead of release
Only four days remain until Eid. Ahead of the festive occasion, the Bangladesh Film Certification Board has granted screening approval to five films slated for release. The board’s Deputy Director, Md Moinuddin, confirmed the development on Monday (March 16).

The approved films are: “Domm”, directed by Redoan Rony; “Rakkhosh”, directed by Mehedi Hassan Hridoy; “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka”, directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud; “Pressure Cooker”, directed by Raihan Rafi; and “Bonolota Express”, directed by Tanim Noor.

According to relevant sources, the films received certification after being screened and completing the required formalities. With approval now in place, all five projects are moving ahead with final release preparations.
“Domm” has been awarded a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate, making it suitable for audiences of all ages. Director Redoan Rony confirmed that the film passed without any cuts. The cast includes Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury, Puja Chery, and Dolly Zahur, among others.

Filmmaker Raihan Rafi’s “Pressure Cooker” has also received an uncut censor certificate. A nearly one-and-a-half-minute preview of the film has already been released, which the director described as a “first whistle” rather than a teaser. Jointly produced by Impress Telefilm and Kanon Films, the story centres on four women, without a conventional male lead. The film stars Shobnom Yesmin Bubly, Nazifa Tushi, Snigdha Chowdhury, and Mariya Hossain Mehnati. Supporting roles are played by Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Misha Sawdagor, Azizul Hakim, and Saberi Alam.

“Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka” has also secured release clearance following its poster and teaser launch. Set against Dhaka’s criminal underworld, the film stars Shakib Khan in the lead, alongside Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Tasnia Farin, and Jyotirmoyee Kundu. The cast further includes Rashed Mamun Apu, Intekhad Dinar, Dr Ejaz, and Sharif Siraj. The film has been shot across Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka.

Another Eid release, “Rakkhosh”, has been granted clearance with an 18+ rating. The film stars Siam Ahmed alongside Kolkata-based actress Sushmita Chatterjee. Producer Shahreen Akter noted that audiences have not seen a “crazy” love story on screen in quite some time. She described the film as a wild, unconventional romance blended with elements of family drama.
Meanwhile, “Bonolota Express”, directed by Tanim Noor, has received clearance for audiences of all ages. The ensemble cast features Mosharraf Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Zakia Bari Mamo, Azmeri Haque Badhan, Sariful Razz, and Shamol Mawla, among others.
