Micro-dramas set to debut in Bangladesh this Eid

Arts & Entertainment Desk

A new format of storytelling is set to enter Bangladesh’s entertainment landscape this Eid, as audiences are introduced to micro-dramas alongside traditional films and television productions.

Micro-dramas are short, episodic content pieces, typically ranging from one to three minutes per episode, designed primarily for vertical viewing on mobile devices. Known for their fast-paced narratives, emotional storytelling and unexpected twists, the format has gained popularity globally, particularly among mobile-first audiences.

Reflecting this growing trend, three micro-drama series will be released on Deepto Play during Eid. The Bangla-dubbed titles include “Love Reunion: The Married Mother’s Tale” (Asomapto Shomporko), “True Love in Disguise” (Choddobeshi Bhalobasha) and “Supreme Lord” (Gopon Shomrat).

Speaking about the initiative, Mohammad Abu Nasim, head of digital at Deepto Play, said audience consumption habits are rapidly evolving in the digital era. He noted that demand for short-form, story-driven content is increasing, especially among viewers who primarily watch content on mobile devices.

He added that the introduction of micro-dramas aims to create a new storytelling approach that is fast-paced, engaging and easily accessible. The format is also expected to open up new opportunities for creators, brands and audiences to collaborate and explore innovative content experiences.

With this launch, micro-dramas are poised to offer a fresh and modern entertainment option for viewers during the Eid festivities.
