‘This recognition belongs to everyone’: Hanif Sanket on Swadhinata Padak honour

The government has announced the Swadhinata Padak 2026, awarding 15 distinguished individuals and five institutions in recognition of their outstanding contributions at the national level.

This year, in the field of culture, the prestigious award will be conferred on noted host and media personality Hanif Sanket and musician Bashir Ahmed (posthumously).

Sharing the news on social media, Hanif Sanket expressed his gratitude and reflected on the significance of the recognition.

“I am pleased to announce that this year the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has honoured me with the Swadhinata Padak in the field of culture. This achievement is not mine alone—this recognition belongs to everyone whose love, support, and cooperation made my long journey in the cultural arena possible. On this joyful day, I express my gratitude to them all,” he wrote.

The celebrated host of the long-running television programme Ityadi also dedicated the award to his audience.

“I dedicate this award to my millions of viewers,” he added.

Hanif Sanket further noted that receiving such recognition increases responsibility and inspires him to continue contributing to society through cultural work.

“I believe that healthy culture has the power to enlighten a society and bring honour to the country. I want to continue working for the nation through the practice of healthy culture for the rest of my life. Just as I have worked with responsibility in the past, I will continue to do so in the future. This award will further encourage me to move forward. Please keep me in your prayers,” he wrote.
