Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’ locks release date
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film “King” is set to hit theatres on December 24, 2026, the makers have confirmed. The action thriller marks Khan’s return to the big screen after a gap of three years.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, “King” reunites the actor-director duo after the blockbuster success of “Pathaan”. The film features an ensemble cast, including Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, and Rani Mukerji.
The script has been written by a team that includes Sujoy Ghosh, Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair, Sagar Pandya, and Abbas Tyrewala. The film is produced by Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand, and Mamta Anand under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures.
Shah Rukh Khan has been one of Bollywood’s biggest stars since his breakthrough in the 1993 film “Baazigar”. He went on to become known as the “King of Romance” with iconic films such as “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Devdas”, and “Kal Ho Naa Ho”. His films also played a major role in taking Bollywood to international audiences.
After facing a few box office setbacks in the mid-2010s, Khan made a strong comeback in 2023 with “Pathaan”, “Jawan”, and “Dunki”. Both “Pathaan” and “Jawan” became among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
In 2024, Khan received a career achievement award at the Locarno Film Festival, recognising his contribution to cinema.
With its star-studded cast and high expectations, “King” is currently listed as IMDb’s most anticipated Indian film of 2026, adding to the excitement around Shah Rukh Khan’s next big-screen outing.
