Jamuna water below danger level, flood receding in Sirajganj

As the water level of Jamuna river dropped below the danger mark recently, flood water is slowly receding in Sirajganj.

However, many flood-affected areas of five upazilas in the district still remain submerged, reports our correspondent quoting Md Abdur Rahim, district relief and rehabilitation officer.

Abdur Rahim said, "Most of Sirajganj's low-lying and shoal areas are still flooded, but the situation will improve within next week."

Md Nasir Uddin, sub-divisional engineer of Sirajganj Water Development Board, said that water level of Jamuna is receding quickly, it is now below danger level.

Jamuna is flowing 23cm below danger level at Sirajganj Hard point and 19cm below at Kazipur point, according to WDB.
