Light tremor jolts Chattogram

A light earthquake jolted the port city and adjoining areas this evening.

Measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale, the tremor was recorded at 9:38pm, said a forecasting officer at Patenga Met Office in Chattogram.

The epicentre of the tremor was near Myanmar, 426 kilometres south-east of the seismic centre in the capital's Agargaon, said the officer who however could not confirm how long the tremor lasted.

There was no immediate report of damage or casualties in the quake.
