Nor’wester lashes B’baria damaging 250 houses, crops

More than 250 houses, including a government primary school, were damaged and some crops were damaged as a Nor'wester swept over Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria early today.

The storm affected several villages under the Bhalakut union of the upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting Mehedi Hasan Khan Shawon, acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer,

However, no casualties were reported.

The storm swept over several villages, including Bhalakut, Kuthui, Khagalia and Balikhola, in the morning, said the acting UNO.

"More than some 250 houses have been damaged due to strong winds," he said.

The temporary building of Bhalakut Union Parishad and the tin shed of Purbo-Balikhola Government Primary School have been destroyed, he added.

He also said, "The villages in Bhalakut have suffered the most. Hailstorms at the time also damaged crops in Purbabhag Union of the upazila."
