Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said all the fugitive criminals hiding abroad, including the convicted killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be brought back to the country.

"We'll gradually bring back all the fugitive criminals and bring them to book," he said at a programme at the Officers' Club in the capital.

The government is always active in bringing back those fugitives who fled the country after committing criminal activities, the minister said. "Sometimes, it is delayed as we do not have extradition treaties with many countries."

Referring to the repatriation of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven-murder cases, from India, he said, "We do what we pledge. We do not resort to empty rhetoric."

The minister said most of the accused in the sensational cases have already been arrested. "Police also have submitted the charge sheets and the trial is underway."
