172 Covid-19 deaths recorded in 24 hours; positivity rate 17.67%

One hundred and seventy-two people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 24,719 and the death rate stands at 1.72 percent.

At least 7,248 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,40,644, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 17.67 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.91 percent.

A total of 41,014 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 12,112 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,27,028 and the recovery rate at 92.11 percent.

Among the 172 deceased, 94 were men and 78 were women. Of them, two were between 11-20 years old, four were within 21-30, seven between 31-40, 20 between 41-50, 34 between 51-60 and 105 were above 60 years old, added the release.
