Number of Covid-19 deaths crosses 26,000 mark

Eighty-nine people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8 am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,015, and the death rate stands at 1.74 percent.

At least 3,948 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,93,537, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 14.14 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 16.84 percent.

A total of 27,921 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

At least 6,466 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 14,15,697, and the recovery rate at 94.79 percent.

Among the 89 deceased, 41 were men and 48 were women. Of them, three were between 21-30, five were between 31-40, 15 were between 41-50, 16 were between 51-60, and 50 were above 60 years old, added the release.
