Bangladesh records 5 more measles-related deaths in 24 hours

Death toll since March 15 rises to 758

Five more patients died of confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The DGHS said four children died from measles-like symptoms, while one child died of confirmed measles during the period.

During the same period, 969 new measles and suspected measles cases were reported across the country.

Of them, 90 were confirmed measles cases while 879 were children with measles-like symptoms, a DGHS press release said today.

Since March 15, a total of 111,480 suspected measles cases and 13,500 confirmed measles cases have been recorded across the country.

Since March 15, a total of 758 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country. Of them, 664 died with measles-like symptoms, while 94 died of confirmed measles.
