Hashimukh reaches hundreds through community health camp

Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha (HSKS) is a registered social welfare organisation working in education, healthcare, youth development, nutrition, and community empowerment. Since 2014, Hashimukh has implemented a range of community-focused initiatives, including educational support programmes, nutrition interventions, health and hygiene awareness campaigns, women's health initiatives, and youth leadership development activities. Through its integrated approach, Hashimukh has reached over 300,000 individuals, and the organisation has continued to improve the quality of life of marginalised children and families by providing over 12,000 health benefits and 30,000+ sanitary pads across Bangladesh.

This year, Hashimukh has once again successfully organised a Community Health Camp at BCSIR School & College, Dhaka, providing free healthcare services and preventive health support to more than 400 students, parents, and community members from underserved communities.

The Health Camp was held on 20 June, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at BCSIR School & College, Dhaka, bringing together healthcare professionals, volunteers, students, parents, and community members on one platform to promote accessible healthcare and preventive health awareness.

The programme was organised under the theme, "From Margins to Mainstream: Empowering Communities with Knowledge, Care, and a Vision for a Healthier Future." The initiative sought to improve access to basic healthcare services while promoting preventive health awareness among vulnerable communities that often face barriers to quality medical care.

The programme brought together a multidisciplinary team of doctors, healthcare professionals, medical volunteers, and community leaders who provided comprehensive healthcare services throughout the day.

The Health Camp featured a dedicated Doctor Consultations and Health Assessments segment, where participants received individualised medical consultations from qualified healthcare professionals. Beneficiaries underwent a range of basic health screenings, including blood pressure monitoring, blood glucose testing, blood grouping, height and weight measurements, dental examinations, and general health risk assessments. Based on individual health conditions, doctors provided medical advice, prescriptions, and recommendations for further treatment where necessary. Dedicated consultation booths and volunteer support teams ensured efficient service delivery and personalised care throughout the programme.

Alongside medical consultations, the camp also included a Medicine Distribution and Health Guidance segment, through which prescribed medicines were distributed free of charge to beneficiaries based on doctors' recommendations. Healthcare professionals and volunteers provided guidance on medication use, treatment adherence, and common health concerns, helping participants better understand their health conditions and available care options.

As part of its commitment to long-term community wellbeing, the programme also conducted Preventive Health & Hygiene Awareness Counselling sessions. Participants received practical guidance on personal hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, healthy lifestyle practices, family health management, and overall wellbeing. Special emphasis was placed on preventive healthcare measures that can reduce common health risks within low-income communities. Female participants also received menstrual health and hygiene awareness support, reinforcing the programme's commitment to inclusive and gender-responsive healthcare education.

Hashimukh organised the programme in collaboration with Grameen HealthTech Limited's digital healthcare platform, "Shukhee." Through its innovative healthcare solutions and commitment to improving access to health information and services, Shukhee continues to play an important role in advancing preventive healthcare in Bangladesh. Hashimukh sincerely appreciates Shukhee's partnership and support in helping make quality healthcare services more accessible to underserved communities.

Nusrat Akter, Co-founder & CEO of Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha, said:

"Access to healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Through this Health Camp, we sought to ensure that students, parents, and community members received not only essential medical services but also the knowledge necessary to make informed health decisions. We are grateful to our medical professionals, volunteers, and partners whose collective efforts made this initiative possible."

The Health Camp concluded with recognition of participating doctors, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partner representatives whose contributions helped ensure the successful delivery of healthcare services to hundreds of beneficiaries.

The organisation has served more than 750,000 nutritious meals, supported 30,000 adolescent girls through menstrual health initiatives, and delivered free healthcare services to over 12,000 individuals. In addition, 1,000 young people have received digital skills training, while 700 students have been trained in eco-friendly crafts promoting responsible consumption and sustainable practices. Through innovative initiatives such as reusable sanitary pad production, digital literacy for women, floating schools, and emergency response programmes, Hashimukh continues to advance inclusive, climate-resilient, and community-driven development in Bangladesh.

As Bangladesh continues to address challenges related to healthcare accessibility among low-income populations, initiatives such as this Health Camp demonstrate the importance of collaboration between civil society organisations, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and private-sector partners in building healthier, more informed, and resilient communities.
