Chief adviser extends greetings on holy Shab‑e‑Barat
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has greeted Muslims in Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of Shab‑e‑Barat, to be observed tomorrow night.
In a message issued today, Prof Yunus said Muslims observe the night between the 14th and 15th of Shaban in the Hijri calendar as Shab‑e‑Barat, a unique opportunity for mercy, forgiveness, and spiritual purification.
He noted that according to Hadith, Allah especially forgives His servants on this night, which is why it is regarded as a blessed occasion.
The chief adviser urged Muslims to seek closeness to Allah through prayers and charity, saying, “Through self‑criticism and remorse, we can achieve the infinite grace, blessings and forgiveness of Almighty Allah by directing our lives on the right path and by trying to purify ourselves from sins.”
Prof Yunus called on all to use Shab‑e‑Barat as an opportunity to pray for the welfare of the country and the nation, and to dedicate themselves to the welfare of humanity.
“Let us illuminate individual, social and national life with the incomparable beauty of Islam, the religion of peace, by shunning all unjust, injustice, lawlessness and superstition,” he said.
“May Almighty Allah forgive and protect us all. Amin,” added the chief adviser.
