12 govt, 70 non-govt high schools have no headmaster

Academic activities are being seriously hampered in the district as there is no headmaster in 12 government and 70 non-government high schools. District education officer (DEO) Kazi Solim Ullah said the posts of headmaster remained vacant for a long time. The government high schools that are running without headmasters are in Noakhali Sadar---Noakhali Zila School and Government Girls' High School, in Begumganj upazila--- Begumganj Pilot High School and Begumganj Technical High School. In Senbagh upazila---Senbagh Pilot High School and Senbagh Government Girls' High School, in Chatkhil upazila--- CPG Government High School and Chatkhil Government Girls' High School, In Hatiya upazila--- Hatiya Oskhali KSS Government High School and Hatiya Sadar Government Girls' High School and in Companiganj upazila--- Bashurhat AHC Government High School and Maksuda Government Girls' High School. There are 12 government high schools and 284 non-government high schools in nine upazilas of the district. Seventy of the 284 non-government schools are running without headmasters, officials said. Of them, nine posts are vacant in Sadar upazila, eight in Hatiya, six in Senbagh, eight in Companiganj, seven in Chatkhil, eight in Sonaimuri, four in Subarnachar, six in Kabirhat and 14 in Begumganj upazila. Students of these secondary schools are not getting proper education for absence of headmasters, locals said. Besides, may schools have acting headmasters who cannot properly carry out their administrative duties due to lack of experience and proper training, said the DEO.
