12 rescued from traffickers

Members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) yesterday rounded up 12 people from Bhomra and Taluigachha bordering areas in Sadar upazila while being trafficked to India. The group comprises five men, five women and two children, BDR and police sources said. They were identified as Litu Mia, 25, Beauty Begum, 22, Rozina Khatun, 28, Rabbi, 4, Matiar Mollah, 35, Emdadul, 25, Saiful, 24, Yunus Ali, 29, Shefali Begum, 32, Mina Khatun, 35, Kabori, 19, and Nayan Moni, 6 and hail from Satkhira, Khulna and Bagerhat districts, police said. Quoting locals BDR and police said, acting on a secret information, a BDR team picked them from Bhomra and Taluigachha border areas while being trafficked to India. However, the traffickers managed to flee.
