UPDF activists block roads

Members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) yesterday blocked roads in Laxmichhari upazila protesting attack on indigenous people Friday evening. Talking to The Daily Star, Ratan Chakma, president of Pahari Chhatra Parishad of the district, alleged that the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Bangalee Chhatra Parishad (BCP) attacked the indigenous people at about 7:00pm, leaving six injured. He identified the injured as Macson Chakma, 20, Protul Chakma, 20, Mong Sagai Marma, 25, Minati Chakma, 15, Joya Chakma, 14, and Dipu Chakma, 25. However, till filing of this report at 4:00 pm yesterday none was admitted to the hospital or clinic.
