Top terror of Satkhira coastal area arrested

Members of the Detective Branch (DB) police arrested a top leader of Hasan-Haque Bahini in Burigoalini coastal area under Shyamnagar upazila on Saturday night. The arrestee, Emdadul Haque alias Abdul Haque alias Haque member, hails from Datinakhali village in Shyamnagar upazila. He is the second in command of the infamous bahini and also the president of Burigoalini Union Jatiya Party (JP-Ershad), a key partner of the Awami League (AL) led grand alliance. DB Police said they picked up Haque member from Burigoalin area at around 10:30pm as he is one of the charge-sheeted accused in a robbery case filed by Krishna Pada Mondol of Durgabati village in the upazila. Locals alleged members of the Hasan-Haque Bahini are involved in robbery, extortion and killing in the coastal area and no one dares to protest their criminal activities. Locals filed at least ten general diaries (GDs) against the members of the bahini with Shyamnagar Police Station. Hearing the news of arrest of Haque member, people of the coastal area hailed the law enforcers and breathed a sigh of relief.
