Bogra lawyers' ultimatum

Members of the Bogra Bar Association will boycott courts until 1:00pm tomorrow if the persons involved in assaulting Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Helalur Rahman Helal are not arrested by today. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of Bogra Bar Association's office yesterday with Advocate Anisur Rahman in the chair. Association's General Secretary Shahjahan Ali Khan, former general secretary Wazed Ali, Tabibur Rahman Tabi and Naresh Mukherjee spoke. The meeting also decided that Bogra Bar members would not provide legal assistance for the attackers including Zia Shahin and Solaiman Ali. “We will again sit in a meeting on Sunday and announce the next course of action if the attackers are not arrested by Wednesday,' the lawyers said. Helalur Rahman Helal filed a case with Bogra Sadar Police Station on Monday night, accusing five people including Zia Shahin and Solaiman Ali of assaulting him. Solaiman Ali also filed a counter case against Helalur Rahman Helal the same night.
