A one-year-old girl was killed allegedly by her father yesterday morning at Mohipur area under Kalapara upazila. Locals caught Redoy Mistree, 38, and handed him over to police. Police and locals said Redoy Mistree of Pakhimara village has been living at Mohipur Bazar with his wife and two daughters Ankon, 7 and Puja, 1, for several years. Yesterday, Purnima went to nearby pond leaving her daughter Puja with husband at home. On her return, Purnima found her daughter lying in a pool of blood and her husband trying to flee. Hearing hue and cry of Purnima, locals rushed to the spot and caught Redoy. Locals said Redoy believed that his both daughters were illegitimate. He married Purnima 10 years ago. Purnima filed a murder case with Kalapara police station in this connection and police sent the body to Patuakhali for autopsy.
