21 outlaws held in Bagerhat anti-crime drive
Police arrested at least 383 people, including 21 outlaws, on various charges from different parts of all the nine upazilas of the district during a two-week special drive.
Three outlaws and pirates were also killed in gunfights with law-enforcers during the drive. The drive aimed at rooting out extremists started from September 25 and continued till October 8. Six members of police and Rab were also injured.
The arrested outlaws belonged to Purbo Banglar Communist Party
(ML-Janajuddha) and (ML-Lal Potaka). They hailed from Fakirhat,
Rampal, Mollahat, Kachua, Morelganj, Mongla and Sadar upazilas.
Locals alleged that though some outlaws and other criminals were arrested during the drive, their godfathers remained out of the dragnet.
